About JESUS With Us NOW- In the Mass and in the Eucharist

This is an on-going, in depth study of JESUS With Us NOW - in the Mass and Eucharist.

The key spiritual reality that underlies any understanding, appreciation, acceptance and belief in the Mass and Eucharist is the grace of and awareness of the Real Presence in the words of Jesus:

1)      At the Last Supper, and

2)      At every Mass, around the world, everyday

“Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for This is My Body which will be given up for you”, and “This is the chalice of My Blood, the Blood of the New and Eternal Covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins”.

An awareness of and belief in this Real Presence is the unifying concept of this series,

“JESUS With Us NOW”, along with Vatican II’s prompting, “…all the faithful should be led to that fully conscious and active participation in the Mass” (Sacrosanctum Concilium).

What is “fully conscious and active participation in the Mass”?  Does it mean signing up to be a Mass minister as an usher or choir member?  Actually, many times the person in the pew can have a fuller conscious and active participation in the Mass.

Have you asked or heard these questions: “Why are we at Mass”?  Why is Mass so boring”?      “Isn’t it just bread and wine?  …it looks like and tastes like bread and wine”.

We begin our series with guided conversations and videos from “A Biblical Walk Through the Mass”, by Dr. Edward Sri, an inspired speaker and biblical theologian.

We will continue with Bishop Robert Barron’s study, “This is My Body”, a small book which explains the Mass as both Pascal Banquet and Sacrifice, along with the Real Presence. We will also study the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, an extension of the Mass.  Other great sources will follow.

We meet on the 1st and 3rd Sundays at 10:45-12:15 in the St. Lucy Room in the Kelly Center.

This is an in-depth study of the Mass and Eucharist. Don’t miss it!
